I've had that idea before--starting a blog, but it's a continuous story, and if someone liked it or thought it was funny they'd keep coming back to read it, and eventually I could publish a book of it. If it was popular enough. Which this story won't be.

unless you generated a pretty serious amount of traffic with the story, i dunno if publishers would wanna buy it if you posted the whole thing as a serial online like that. it could be construed as publication, and houses usually want first rights, rather than follow-up rights, unless it's a guaranteed moneymaker (which first-time authors rarely are). apologies if i'm mistaken and you're not a first-time author.

anyhow, if you have an eye toward eventual traditional publication of the novel (or whatever), excerpts might be a safer idea. just a thought.
