Ya Zatoichi is pretty "ninja-riffic". I watched it about 8 months ago along with 2 others that I thought were good as well. House of Flying Daggers (similar to Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon) and Warriors of Heaven and Earth. Each good in their own way.

House of Flying Daggers was great... almost like an art piece.

I haven't checked out Warriors of Heaven. Will have to do.
I did watch House of Flying Daggers and I loved it. Beautiful scenery, movement. I need to see more by that director.
Any others that you would recommend?

Another by the same director is Hero, which if you haven't seen well.... I don't know what to say. Another Visually stunning
movie. Another movie I would recommend although not as good (my opinion) is The Legend of Zu.
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0286098/ I think it actually came out on dvd for the U.S. this month. I has some
nice effects, but the story is kind of confusing. Maybe the English release will fix that. Azumi is another good flick.

I've seen Hero also. I thought the House of Flying Daggers was better.
