So last month coming home from the float trip I was awarded a Speeding Ticket in lovely Pontiac, IL. It's in the middle of nowhere. Anyways, I already paid the fee of $75 right there at the scene (thanks Paul). Now how long does a ticket stay on your record or is it on there indefinately? Cause some day, I might like to buy a car again and not get screwed on insurance.
In the past I would just take an 8 hour Traffic School course and that would get it off your record, but Pontiac, IL doesn't accept traffic school. Those bitches.

Immediate paying of a fine equals admission of guilt, I think, so you probably won't be able to get it fixed by a lawyer.
Points assigned vary by state, I think.
This might help:

Aren't slam's parents lawyers? I thought he was used to giving out free legal advice by now. ;)

I paid the cash bond option when I got the ticket (instead of surrendering a license or bond card)... but yeah, now I have to send in my ticket and check next to the "guilty" box or the "show up to court" box. Except, it's too late now to do the court option. Those cocksuckers.

That sucks, dude.
Pontiac, IL also sucks. Its only redeeming quality is that it's one of the last cheap places for gas and cigarettes before you get to the city.
I believe a traffic ticket will show up on your insurance for 3 years. I don't know anything about Illinois traffic laws.

This might not be the most exciting thing to do, but I bet if you call the courthouse or the police dept. there they can tell you how long. I hate talking to people on the phone...especially strangers, so I would probably avoid it at all costs, but it's an option if you really want to know.
Will one ticket really make that big of a difference for insurance? Me just not know..
