I'm a few chapters into this... can someone tell me wtf this book about? He is just rambling like a crazy person.

Its Vonnegut. You have to roll with it until the middle of the book. Then something may make sense.

Yeah, I've read his other books, but have put this one off because False Alarm(?) had said it was not typical Vonnegut or something. I think this was supposed to be his final book so maybe that's why he's reminiscing so much about his past (and mixing in the infamous Kilgore Trout along the way). It's all over the map so far. Heh.
Will stick with it and see where it goes. :biker:

Also, it doesn't help that I'm reading this during my last few moments of consciousness for the day. I usually read for an hour every night in bed until I don't understand the words anymore. That seems to happen a lot more quickly with this book, lol. :)
I agree with Chimpo. Try Sirens of Titan. Probably my fav by him (so far).

dunno if i'd've said it was atypical, but it's not his greatest by any means. i consider it more of a cute book, nostalgic. it's a light and, i think, fitting end to his career as a novelist. definitely not required reading though. does your copy have the pic of him and his brother on the back? god i love that pic.
(btw, my first impulse w/this thread was just to write, ":pissright: larryhead:pissleft: ,"and be done with it.)

If I might add "Cat's Cradle" to the reading pool...
I liked it. And also the copy I had smelled deliciously of old book...
