I am running a pool at work and so far I have received 35 brackets with 11 different National Champs. Still haven't filled mine out yet.

duke all the way

final four:
duke - first you dick. then you redick.
gonzaga - its time for the break through
uconn - big east bullies go to the championship game with ease
ohio st. - any body could win this region really. so go ahead and pick davidson if you want to.

first round upset: kent st. over pitt in a 5-12
question: how good is memphis? i haven't seen a game of theirs.?!
snubbed: florida st.
mo valley: good not great
real favorite: one team has the best coach in the country. and the leading scorer, who's a senior point guard player of the year. they also have a solid big man and a good big supporting cast. i think its duke. but i always think its duke. they always go to the final four. even in bad years they get to the sweet sixteen. this looks like a dookie year to me.

whining: if texas had been in the minneapolis region i would have been able to put in my ideal final four. but, cryin won't help ya.

yeah...this year is the year of the Duke-losers....I hate them...

Elite Eight: Duke v Iowa = Duke
Memphis v Gonzaga = Gonzaga
Connecticut v North Carolina = Connecticut
Villanova v Florida = Villanova

The national Championship will be Duke v UConn with Duke winning.

I wish the entire Duke team would run off a cliff...

AHHHHHahhahahahahahaHAHAHAHA! wait, wait, wait, AHAHAHAHAHAHAAHA!!!! Please tell me, no wait, *wipes away a tear* tell me you guys didn't pick Gonzaga to win more than one game. You guys know that this game is basketball. It is a game where you dribble a ball and shoot it into a hoop. That must be all you guys know about the sport.
Jesus, Gonzaga sucks! They won 8 of their games in whatever the shitacular conference they're in by less than 5 points. I know that St. Mary's put out their A Squad this year, but they were still wearing their church clothes and seeing eye dogs. Their conference is so ridiculously horrible they always have a good record. They pick off decent teams while they are still figuring out who they are ex. Kansas.
Not only is Gonzaga severely, severely, severely overrated, they also have a very hard bottom of the bracket. There is no way in hell they get to the sweet 16. I would put a LOT of money on them getting no where close to the final 4. Seriously, please donate some money to me. You know me, I don't make fun of people usually, so sorry for the rant. :soapbox:

Nice Call Cadi! I feel the same way about Florida. Florida is the new Cinci. They are going to choke before they ever get to 16.

Now to put my money where my mouth is. This year's bracket is crazy. There are so many shitty teams in there that this is a viable year for all 4 no. 1's to make it to the elite 8 or final 4. I also think there is too much parity for that to happen, so here's my final word:

Duke vs. Texas- Texas
UCONN vs Mich St- UCONN
Kansas vs Indiana- Kansas
BC vs (sorry JVO)Florida- BC

UCONN will beat Texas for the crown of crowns.
The Oakland bracket was so weak and ripe for the taking I had to take Kansas and Indiana out of it. I know this doesn't sound plausible what with Kansas being so young, me hating them so much, and Indiana relying so heavily on Killingsworth but I just thought they had the best matchups. Go UAB! Warm our future coach up for some good times at MU. :biker:

Btw...I'm watching this Georgetown game right now. I live right by these fools but didn't realize that the Hibbert (Center) was so good. He's 7'2" and he's got pretty decent skills. He's a Sophomore I think. Give these guys a year or 2 and man....watch out! Noone in the country has a big man. Recruit a solid point guard and this team could win it all in 2 years.

ok...enuf of the Georgetown rant.

Hey, no biggie JVO. It was a tough year to call.
FL was the only Final Four team that I had (and I thought that was a major long shot).

FL played a great game. It was dunkfest 2006.
FL's big men can handle the ball & its hard for other teams to defend.
"Whoa, is that a seven footer leading the fast break?..."

Congrats, FL! I'm always happy when somebody new wins.

I was thinking about it last night and I have some sort of unexplained hatred of Florida, Texas and California sports. There are a handful of exceptions...Stanford, Rice, Florida Marlins... but really I pretty much hate all of their teams. Not sure why. I know that the Florida schools are the most corrupt in the country, so I understand that, but not sure what my beef with California and Texas are. California and Florida have the worst pro team fans in the country, but I don't know why that bothers me so much. I have been to California and Texas and liked each of those states just fine, but for some reason, i hate all of their University and Professional sports team. I think I am prejudiced against warm weather climes. Too much sun makes you soft.

Do you not like them because they are pretty good most of the times...

Maybe its like Duke, Nobody likes them because they win EVERY YEAR and you just want someone else to win?

That is certainly true in some cases. For instance the 49ers and the Cowboys can screw off for all I care. They have won enough for any other 4 teams. USC, UCLA, and Texas are also pretty good at almost everything. Florida State, Miami, and Florida are certainly dominant football schools, but they stink at basketball (with the obvious exception of this year's florida team). The Dolphins haven't won a SuperBowl in my lifetime, the Bucs are (with the exception of the Saints) arguably the cruddiest team in pro football, and the Oilers were so bad they moved to Tennessee, yet for some reason I don't really like any of these teams either.

I don't know, sports biases are weird. You can hate a team for 20 years because they beat your team in some forgotten meaningless game. I guess that is part of the fun.

What do you think of the Titans, JVO?
Since they moved from the state of TX do you still hate them?

I am alright with the Titans. I really like Jeff Fisher.

Also I have always been neutral about the Texans, but now that Kubiak is their coach I suspect that I will be rooting for them.
