I was at Jewel a few days ago and saw they had the option to pay by pressing your finger into a scanner. fucking creepy. what's next, will they want my dna or an iris scan to purchase a gallon of milk and some twinkies?

This is the only finger they're getting :fu:

And WTF is up with those new flat-panel televisions spewing commercial bullshit at you in the checkout lines. Seriously, that fucking sucks!

Here's another finger for them :2up:

i think it's neat. but then again, i enjoy inventions from the not-too-distant future that relate to violations of my privacy in general.

actually with this thing, it's not just a thumb scan thing (it's not a fingerprint, by the way, it's a heat signature). it requires that you enter a pin as well.

And don't even get me started on those "preferred/loyalty cards" they coerce you to use so that they can keep track of your information and spending habits.

Of course, you don't *have* to use a preferred card, but be prepared to pay an enormous mark-up on groceries if you don't.

007 and I had a conversation about this the other day. I don't shop at those places that "require" a card to save.

I've also seen it at the pharmacy too.
