These Star Wars : Clone Wars Cartoons are fantastic. I think that it has been touched on before, but I just downloaded & watched them again. They are much better than the first two movies. It is non-stop jedi action which kicks ass!!

If you haven't seen these, grab them & give them a whirl. If you are a Star Wars fan you won't be disappointed.

I agree!

I saw the series on Cartoon Network last spring. It definately was better that the first 3 movies! Better action, better dialog..
I think one reason it excells is there is no need for meshing computer graphics with real time.

While i enjoy the added texture of the inserted cg into the classic 3, things got out of hand and the made the newer ones. Part of the magic of StarWars for me was that while it is a fantasy universe, all the components of it were created in ours. I know there's a guy inside r2d2 but i have no idea how the fuck it works. The ships, explosions, aliens, vehicles, sets and whatever else are real somewhere, even if they're just models, paintings and puppets. There is something about that reality that helps the nobility of the story and graduer of the production.

The new films used more and more digital cg until the analog nature of the SW universe was obscured. from button controls for vehicles (vs. switches, dials and joysticks) to a completely cg yoda (they didn't the "real" puppet once in 'Revenge...') But i digess... I could go on and on...

The reason I comment on all this is 'Clone Wars,' being animated by more traditional means, doesn't bring all that baggage with it. It's almost like reading a SW novel, cut up into chapters. It expored parts of the epic that wouldn't feasably translate to live action interpreatation and helped bridge the gap between 'Attack' & 'Revenge,' slightly healing the wounds of 'Menace' & 'Attack.' Also, it could even make you care a little about the characters again before the climactic 'Revenge' making it a bit more enjoyable.

That's my 2-cents.

Did you see all the Chapters (1-25)? 20-25 came out a little more recently than the first twenty.

Also, I see what you are saying about the CGI. That was part of the quaint charm of the early movies.
I really did enjoy the newest movie despite all the CGI.

Somebody else mentioned this... sounds pretty interesting so I'll have to check it out. I also really liked the cartoon series that went along with the Matrix.. very well done.

not sure if i've seen 20 or 25... probably just 20, though.

I enjoyed the 3rd movie as well but wouldn't agree that it's the best of the 6. It definately had its high points (yoda getting thrown across the room by palpatine), but overall i was left hoping for more. I mean, jeez! where's the interplanetary adventure... 75% of the film was on Corrisant... but like i said.. don't get me started.

The animatrix was great! I personally like the first two Matrix movies. Boy that third Matrix movie blew some series chunks. I vow NEVER TO WATCH it again. Personally, I wish I had never seen it and just made up my own ending to the movie.

Years later it still pisses me off. Whoever wrote those movies deserves the ASSCLOWN award for the third.

(sorry for the rant)

On a positive note I thought the Clone Wars were great too. Much better than the movies for sure.

Third Matrix: Only a TRUE ASSHOLE could make a movie so bad that it makes the first two movies suck in retrospect, when they used to be good. I started to watch that kick-ass freeway battle from the second movie, but then I was like, "This blows." Because the suck of the third movie was so strong that it has contaminated all things Matrix.

Clone Wars: Cartoons are superior to the stupid prequels! I liked Revenge when compared to Phantom and Attack, but it sucks in comparison to the cartoons.

Someone at some party somewhere was drunkenly telling me that Darth Lucas was going to collaborate with the Clone Wars cartoon team to make some sort of new Star Wars something or other. I'm too lazy to research this--someone who cares should look into that.

I have heard a rumor that Lucas is willing to turn over the last three installments to Genndy Tartakovsky, but it's only idle gossip.

That story has been going around a lot, though...perhaps there is some truth to it.

i've heard there's going to be a star wars tv show directed by kevin smith.

seriously.

i figure, lucas has butchered his creation long enough. let's get some fresh blood in there and see what they can do with it. i'd say timothy zahn has written the best post-first-trilogy shit so far.

and the clone wars rock hard. i've got them all larryhead.

(the matrix? oh god, please don't mention that shit. my head hurts just trying to figure out what the fucking plot WAS, let alone what it MEANT.)

any body know if the second set of clone wars cartoons are out on dvd yet. i have only seen the first set.

I am a true star wars fan. i dont understand all this criticism of the prequels.

the matrix sucked. it did not warrant sequels.
