I played it awhile back... on console. Weak sauce. Any first person shooter where you can't use your mouse, I don't want to play. Also, the graphics were nothing special.. like Doom 3 or Half Life 2 looked much better imho.
I think all the initial hype is mostly from it being the first decent FPS since Bond for console. Yes?

Or wait.. are you talking about the new Halo 2 for XBox 360? Is that out yet?
Regardless, I'm sure I'd have the same complaints with the new one, lol.
yeah, i could never get the hang of the controls. i'm a keyboard/mouse man all the way!
i'm still a complete and total battlefield 2 addict. i just can't tear myself away...

my big draw on this game wasn't necessarily its amazing gameplay, but rather its simplistic controls on the XBox. It was easy to just pick up and kill people. However, the biggest draw were the Halo parties. 4 Xbox's with 4 players on each. 16 player mayhem. 4 player teams. that's where the fun was.

Agreed. Thats what made Halo the xbox's killer app. For sure it's the only reason I bought an xbox, as well as the reason for several of my friends.
It also had an engaging enough story to make the single/co-op play fun as well.
Halo 2 did one better by adding Live capability to the mix(although with enough ingenuity you could play Halo 1 online as well) Suddenly there's no problem in getting 16 people together to play Halo as you could just log in and commence the killing. And aside from Halo 2's OMGWTFBBQ weak ending that just leaves you wanting more. It was another great game.
Plus I find it a bit easier in only getting together 4 xboxes to have a 16 man lanparty as opposed to getting 16pc's together for the same thing. Cause well half the fun of a lan-party is being able to physically abuse your opponents. Using coasters as ninja stars and neck throttleing are some really good attacks. And you just can't get that anywhere else except a lan-party.
On a finishing not Bungie must be doing something right, as all the other console game companies always seem to be chasing them, and trying to make a "halo killer"
