Google Talk: new Google IM client

I just read somewhere that Google is planning to release a new instant messenger system called "Google Talk" soon. They also just released Google Desktop Search 2 (I haven't used it), which cuts further into M$ territory. There are also rumors of a possible operating system in the works. This company is steadily taking over everything.

Their IM is already released actually. As long as you have a jabber compatible client, you can use it with your gmail info. I know that GAIM is jabber compliant, but not sure about other clients.
