The first Tuesday of every month has hereby been declared the 'Night of Gluttony'!!!!!!
For those able and willing, each month we will choose a palatable new restaurant in Chicago to gorge ourselves into sweet delicious oblivion. I've spoken with a few of you guys already, so it looks like the first Night of Gluttony will be on Tuesday, September 6th, 2005 (mark it down!!!!). For our premier outing, the consensus sounded like we are doing Korean BBQ, mmmm.... Talking Sandwich will provide details here on the location. :)
Presuming this goes well, then each month a new fellow glutton will get to choose the scene where we do battle against the forces of food. If you are interested in being a part of all the tasty goodness, keep your eyes on this thread!

matty and I are coming to visit you guys, so we should have a sushi night of gluttony.
I just don't want to go to the sushi place in Wrigleyville (on Addison?) 'cause it SUCKS.
we've found this excellent sushi buffet; $12 for all-you-can-eat maki! i stuffed myself last saturday.
i'm all about gluttony. korean bbq here i come!

ok call me the sushi snob...but i can't quite handle buffet stlye...not that good...i need a master chef....anywho...i did try this rotating sushi bar thing. they put the sushi they prepare up on a conveyor belt thing that circles the sushi bar. you sit and grab what you want as it comes by. not that good. i think it was the last straw in my buffet style eating experiences...

Suck it Poof you wouldnt know Maguro if it slaped you in the face :D
JK buffet does suck!
i think 'buffet' was perhaps the wrong term. there is no large snot-guard-protected counter of sushi. more like, i order some maki, they make it up, i eat it, i order more maki, they make it up, i eat it, etc, etc.
leaving raw fish out for any length of time would probably be unwise.
mea culpa.
good spot. they try to put cream cheese and/or mayo in too many of the rolls, but that's easily avoided.

Yeah, next time I'm skipping the roles w/ mayo.... those are just plain wrong. Otherwise, the place is great. There's also a $5 penalty if you leave any food on your plate (not joking). I prefer to think of it as a challenge.

Hey TS, do you think there is any money in us writing reviews of these places we're going to? If we could paid to talk about eating, I would quite my job. :)

Has anyone ever had authenticate kimchi (sp?).... it's like this fermented Korean cabbage dish. Very hot. I used to hate it, but after living with Koreans in college for several years I now find it very tasty. My other favorite Korean food was called Duk-Bo-Ki, it's like rice cakes or something.
mmm.. BBQ. Can't wait.

mmm... kimchi is yummy!
there's this korean place in Little Korea (imagine...) that, when they serve you, opens up the table and puts in a tray of blazing hot coals and grills the tasty meats right there at your table!
It's tasty town to the extreme!

Sushi Mike is the name of the guy - his restaurant is Tanochii (not sure if that is how it's spelled) and it's in Andersonville on Clark. DE-LIC-IOUS!!!
He makes insane rolls - if you get his specials you tell him what you like "spicy, avacado, crunchy" etc. & he makes what he is feeling at the moment. It is pricey but worth it if you like really good maki. The thing is some people were talking about rolls with mayonnaise being gross earlier...I promise you are all WRONG! Mike uses this fantastic spicy mayo concoction in quite a few of his rolls and I promise you it is sooooo good, but there are usually like 5 other ingredients too so it's not like you realize you are eating mayo. We just kind of figured it out because it was so good we disected a few to see what was in them.
Also, what time is din-din Tuesday night? I have to work until 5pm.
