Miami Fans Stink!

Ok so I have watched the last 2 Marlins V. Cardinals games on tv and what is up with nobody going to the games?!?!? Florida has one of the most exciting, fun teams in MLB and are in the middle of a great race for the Wildcard and NOBODY is going to the games. I bet there were less than 15k people at either game. I looked it up and since the Marlins and the Rockies started (both started the same year), the Rockies attendance is over twice as much as Florida. And Florida has won 2 world series and is always competing for the playoffs whereas the Rockies suck and with the exception of one year always have sucked. I know the Marlins play in a football stadium that is out in the middle of nowhere, and it rains every afternoon (so I hear) in Florida, but why is nobody going to the games? Just wondering.

Yes. Miami fans are some of the worst in the nation. They are indifferent even when the teams are winning.

I read today that the Marlins average attendance is 23,000. The only two teams with worse attendance are
Tampa & KC.

you know, y'alls are right--miami fans do suck. but with the marlins and dolphins, i think part of it's the location of the stadium. i'm a diehard dolphins fan, see, and i flew down with sandwich and hasslehaas once to see em play the jets. we knew nothing about south florida and figured the stadium wouldn't be too far from, you know, miami. but it is; it was like a 45-minute late-night taxi ride and after a while the stadium just like springs up from this gigantic swamp in the middle of nowhere. very inconvenient and not condusive to good baseball attendance. not excusing their fans at all, just sayin. as for dolphin fans, i found out how loyal they were when i was the last one left among about 15,000 jets fans chanting their retarded chant cuz the fish were down 24-0 early in the 4th quarter. i hate life.

dunno why the dedication. i'm just pretty manic about my sports teams. it's probably something i should get help for.

as for why i'm a fish fan--it's mainly my dad's fault. see, even though we're from chicago, for some reason he had always liked don shula. he'd been a colts fan when coach shula was in baltimore, and when shula came to the dolphins my dad switched allegiance to them. i suppose, looking back, that it was partly a fairweather thing. shula was a winner everywhere he went. but i couldn't realize any of that when i was six years old and began watching football. anyhow, that was the season when marino exploded on the scene. the dolphins were good that year, so they were on national TV a lot and i got to watch the majority of the games (this was back when it was actually a challenge to follow an outta-town team: no internet or sports bars, and we couldn't afford a satellite dish). 5,084 magical yards and 48 glorious TDs later, i was hooked for life. i cried when the 49ers whipped us in the super bowl (not the last time the dolphins, ahem, would make me cry) and can't believe to this day that we've never been back. i went to canton last month to see marino get inducted, and when he threw that pass to clayton ranks as maybe the happiest moment of my life other than my wedding. i could go on and on, as some peeps on this board know.

and yeah, this season might be a wash, but it's an exciting time. lotta new faces. and it can't get worse than last year.
