For some reason I thought it was the 4th. In which I'm late.

Too many birthdays in the fall.

Anyhoo.

Happy birthday! Have a shot for me! One for every year you've been around right?

Thanks!!!

All I want for my Birthday is a Cardinals win!!!

I am 33. The same age as Christ when he was crucified and Thomas Jefferson when he wrote the Declaration of Independence.

I, on the other hand, am planning on spending the year on my lazy boy!

I also quit smoking as of 10:00 pm last night. That is my present to myself. So far doing ok, although it was very difficult to not have a smoke the second I got out of the shower this morning. I am chewing on the first piece of gum and man is it disgusting!!! I can really tell that it is working though, don't have any cravings at all. In fact the shitty taste of the gum makes the idea of smoking a nasty one. I averaged around 50 cigs a day for the last 10 years, so quitting ought to be an interesting challenge. I set a date and made a public announcement (two things recommended by quitters) so the rest of it should be easy!!!

It is very possible I will leave various crazed messages in the next few days. Just ignore them.

Stay strong, JVO!
I've got faith that you can do it.
Its a hard road, but you won't regret it.
I did it & so can you!
I compensated with party favors.

Happy birthday, and congrats on the quitting! It's easier than you think'll be, seriously. Just give it a month or two (I'll admit it: the beginning can be painful). But yay for you!

Good luck on the quitting!

Hang in there, buddy. After four years, you won't crave another cigarette. We shared some hefty smoking days, and I can say that fresh lungs and fresh air is a better combo than any alternative. I heard from a doctor some time back that it takes your lungs 10 years to completely heal after being an avid smoker.

I wonder how long it takes your liver to recover from begin an avid drinker...

Anyway, happiest birthday to a great and overly bright guy. Now, if only we could harness your power for good, or something...

So far so good. Went out last night and got drunk, but managed to not smoke the entire night. Felt pretty crappy this morning though. Gum keeps giving me heartburn.
