I gave that album another listen the other day. I think its really great. I have a sneaky feeling someday down the road we will be comparing them to some of the music in the disco era.

Yeah, two thumbs up for their debut album... their sound is very catchy.

I LOVE Filthy/Gorgeous. I almost used it for fashion show walking music, but then I changed my mind and used something else instead.

I like the Scissor Sisters, but I can't believe it took everybody this long to catch on, and now that they're really popular, I'm kind of....over it.

if you hand't been so damn fond of it i might have gave it a good listen earlier. however, i just assumed anything you liked that much must be total shit. i'm still holding off on the new gwen stefani; i don't care how good you say it is.

im just waiting on a new release. i've definitely overlistened that album. however...i still like it (unlike some easily jaded music listeners....ahem...matty....).
and slam...the gwen stefani is ok...very very much so pop music sensational...however...for matty's intended dancing ass, its a rump shaker. i have it...its ok...makes me wanna dance a little. however...i have other dance stuff i'd rather "pop" on...haha...that was only a little punerific.

So I downloaded a Scissor Sisters album cause of all the good things that were written in this thread.
For the first 30 seconds I understood what you guys liked about the band. . .but after that it got painful. I understand that people have their difference yada yada yada . . but i need some crackers with this cheese.
Please don't think me homophobic, but this is the music you'd hear when reluctantly losing your anal virginity to an unshowered hairy man in leather pants.
But . thats just like . . my opinion man. :peace:

lmao... 'reluctantly'..
Well, they are part of that New York drag queen glam rock sound, so I guess the imagery makes some sense. :)

It's a fun album that grows on you after a few listens. Definately will go by the way of disco. Forgotten for a time, until someone breaks it out again and remixes.

its like... they suck-- then their good-- then they suck again. Kinda like the Strokes. No staying power.

100 percent agreed. i listen to some of their songs, and they are fanastic...others make my ears bleed. maybe there is 2 different songwriters or something.

In hindsight... I completely agree.

I take back a little... that first Strokes album has some choice cuts, but then they tried to sound like the Cars, or something, on the second release... feh
no doubt Scissor Scistors have an awesome look, and they were great on SNL (that's what kinda led me to download some of their songs)... but the songs without the visual are a bit too 'hey were just hammin' it up and we're cool because of it...'
kinda like if John Waters had a band

Yeah, the visual side of it is definitely important. It works with glam rock, and any Bowie fan will tell you that "Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust" is one of the best albums ever.
And I don't think that the whole "if John Waters had a band" thing is bad! If John Waters had a band, you better believe I'd be ALL OVER IT. In fact, I'm going to send him a letter...
Now that I think of it, a lot of musicians have made a career not entirely based on their music but also on their fashion, appearance, what have you.
KISS, Madonna, Elton John, Bootsy Collins, Michael Jackson, Usher, Marilyn Manson, Sex Pistols. Even that Coldplay bitch has started wearing some sort of signature outfit.
Some artists just like having a hook.
Also, the Scissor Sisters are all gay except the drummer. (And Anna Matronic, but she believes she's a gay man trapped in a woman's body.) So there's going to be a certain degree of fabulosity.
