Does anyone even go to movies anymore?

The last movie I saw in a theater was "Little Miss Sunshine" (very good, btw), but before that I hadn't been in almost a year. Is the theater experience being replaced with alternative media venues (ie. internet, netflix, etc.), or are there no theater-worthy movies coming out, or am I just too much of a hermit when it comes to going to movies? I gues I only go once or twice a year, so maybe that's it.

Another thing, do you think the cost of going out to see a movie has gone up considerably in recent years? Isn't a movie ticket on average around $7-8 bucks now... it certainly seems like a lot more than it used to be. With all the stupid television commercials they play before the show now, you'd think they could lower the ticket costs a little bit. :drumfingers:

I think the last movie I saw in the theatre was X-Men 3.

I really don't like going to the movies. I have a real problem with feeling claustrophobic, particularly if a theatre is near full. I don't like any place where it is difficult for me to leave. I have a real problem with flying too. I don't mind the flying part, I just don't like the fact that I can't leave.

I would not do well in prison.

GridIron Gang was the last one I saw.

I like going to the movies. I don't go very often because ticket prices are steep $9.50. (I wish $7.00).

I also MUST get the popcorn which adds another million dollars to the experience.

Movie Theatre Popcorn is yummy.

Laura and I went to the Imax (which we love to do) and saw Deep Sea 3D. I highly advise going to see it if you have an Imax near you. The 3D movies at Imax are always the bomb and this one wont disapoint!!

We also saw they were showing superman in 3D for any of you that like the superman movies...:eatpopcorn:

Star Wars Episode III.

That shows you how long its been for me. I'm with LH & JVO. Its too expensive, too cramped & too restrictive to my lifestyle to go to the theatre. I'm patient enough to wait for the DVD.

that zach braff movie last kiss. it was shitty. shitty choice to see on the big screen too.

it's too expensive and i don't get there often enough, but i do love going to the movies. i'd rather see one there than watch at home. for me, the fact that it's cramped and difficult to leave is a good thing: if i'm watching at home, i tend to wander off and, like, start checking box scores or making nachos or something. but put a bucket of too-buttery popcorn in front of me and make everything real big and loud, and i'll give it a chance. plus my girl loves that shit.

That sounds like 007. he's up and down through the whole movie. It drives me crazy.

First he needs a beer, then he needs to go to the bathroom, then he needs another beer, then he needs ice cream...

I think he spends more time wandering around than watching the movie. :p

Jet Li's Fearless. Saw it will Slam. We shared a big tub of popcorn and I made sure there was a "special suprise" for him at the end!

i love seeing movies in the theater, but don't get around to it all that often (ten bucks here y'all!). i usually decide to see films that will binefit from the extra large screen and super surround sound. any big hollywood blockbuster, like kong and superman will be seen in the big black box. also, anything i think will be enhanced visually or binefited by the suspension of disbelief that theaters afford. like the last thing i saw was the science of sleep. and when aronofsky's new film the fountain comes out i will definately see it on the big screen, with lots of buttery popcorn. yummmmmy.

40 year old virgin...really not a fan of the theater any more. I like the DVD on a digital TV with 5.1 sound. I need it loud like the theater. When theaters begin serve beer i may return...until then i suppose i will take my boy when he is old enough.

just saw The Departed today. i enjoyed it. however, i got one of those gigantic cokes so i had a hard time focusing on the movie since spent the last 30 minutes trying to control my bladder. good though.

ps: they did have bathrooms, i was just willing to suffer kidney damage because i didn't want to miss anything.
