So it looks like tonight that a UM football player was shot in my apartment complex. On the opposite of end of my apartment.

Its all over the television.

The keep going on and on about the kid. Which is sad.

But my main concern is Did they arrest the shooter? Is this guy still running around? Shouldn't that be the most important news for everyone who lives in the neighborhood?

WOW that is crazy!!! They have been talking about it on ESPN Radio all morning.

They have not found the killer yet. Considering the fact that it involves a University of Miami football player it could be anything.

Or its a good argument for not having so many guns around.

Never owned a gun, never shot a gun. If all goes well, never will!

I'd much prefer to beat people to death with my bare hands

I think that having a gun in the house is not going to stop someone from killing you if they wanted to.
Soul Queen does your apartment have a security system? Can you control who goes in and out of the building? Keep those features in mind when you look for your new place later this week.

Yes it has security system with gates and guards. I don't live right on campus. Its a short train ride away.

I don't think the neighborhood that I live in is bad. There normally isn't much crime. I haven't heard of anything since moving here.

Freakish incident? Someone he knew? Robbery? Maybe. With UM Football players it could be anything. It seems like they and their enemies shoot people for no reason at all.

I think this last year another player got shot in the ass.

I used to call my apartment the retirement castle because of all the old people that live here. I think it may need a new name.

Yeah the university of Miami (or the "U") is notoriously bad at recruiting gansters and criminals. Probably the worst in the country at it. Of course their football teams normally kick ass, so I guess that is all that matters,

I have a friend that gets really offended when you refer to the UM football players as thugs.

She considers the team a family and you always have to support the family.

eh

Tell your friend that the entire University of Miami past, present and foreseeable future football teams are a blight on College athletics and that I am really offended every time they mistakenly call themselves "student athletes". You can further tell your friend that I curse the day the ACC allowed their filth to contaminate my conference. In addition to that, you can tell your friend that if the "U" is going to continue to be cheating, lying, scumbags, they should at least win. Also, tell her the University of Miami should be ashamed of itself for having these people on the football team as part of their “family”. Finally you can tell your friend that if she needs evidence of the "U's" thugishness, all that she has to do is look at the last 50 years of their history, and that if they don't watch themselves they are going to be banned from participating in football, like they already have twice.

Then tell your friend no hard feelings.

p.s. in case you didn't notice...I HATE the University of Miami athletic department (and honestly the University itself) as much as one person can possibly hate something that they know little about. It is a complete mockery of all that is good and holy.

wow thats quite an opinion.

I would say you could get hurt here saying something like that. But Floridians don't take their home teams too seriously.

If you would like I'll give you Liz's number. She is the only female I know that watches as much football or more than 007.

Yeah thats right or MORE.

She works a second job at the American Airlines Arena for the Heat. She's a sports nut.

Good things we have other things besides sports to discuss. I give her blank looks when she tries to bring up the topic. :D
