KV kicks ass. He was just on the Daily Show, and he's still got it.

He was looking remarkably old, though. And somewhat infirm. Basically, his days are numbered. He just released a book of essays and ramblings, and I am looking forward to reading it, as it will most likely be the last thing he ever publishes.

An American Icon is about to take the ol' dirt nap. Big thumbs up to the Daily Show for having him on.

Of the 4-5 KV books I've read, I think that The Sirens Of Titan is my favorite. If you haven't read it pick it up.

What is your favorite KV book?

Possibly Cat's Cradle, although Slaughterhouse 5 is really, really entertaining to me. He always has such pathetically good-hearted protaganists.

yeah, larryhead, paul and i caught that on the daily show last night. damn good. i liked what he said to jon stewart, something like "you're very influential among all the right kind of people".

i'm a seriously jaded person, but kurt is worlds more cynical than me. i couldn't even tell when he was being serious some times. the man is a force of nature.

He was also on Real Time (HBO's best show) this week. I love all of the books I have read by him, but I don't think he has much connection with reality. He makes a lot of inflammatory statements without any possible solutions. Typical old fart.

hocus pocus, though he's got about a half dozen others i couldn't fault someone for putting at the top of a fav list. also, i wouldn't say he was always so disconnected from reality. he probably is now in that he offers no solutions, but c'mon, dude's 85 and has put out a ridiculous amount of relevant commentary over the years. i plan to read the new book more for the humor than any trenchant commentary. he can still make a funny with the best of 'em.

finally, i read a piece on him where his editor said there's more than enough material for another nonfic book, and you gotta assume the vultures'll dig up some fiction posthumously.

"[AJ] is like all creepy and reticent in real life but on the board he's downright cordial."

:lmao:

This made my day.

That Vonnegut interview on the Daily Show was hilarious. What did he say at the end, something like "If you trespass against me I'll tear you a new one", lol.

The man works in mysterious ways.
