whoa...don't rush to judgment. ok...so my rankings for worst fans as in most obnoxious goes like this:
1. Boston Red Sox (they're stupid with glee at no longer being the 2nd best team in the division and are total assholes in person!)
2. NY Yankees (we are the best team ever. love us...we are the YANKEES!!!!)
3 tie. Kansas State Football fans (that damned purple they wear everywhere...Jesus!! Drives me crazy)
3 tie. Nebraska Football fans (we should never lose a game. Oh wait, did our coach just win 10 games? Let's fire his ass! What a bunch of pricks)
5. Philadelphia fans in general
I think the Notre guys would come in runner up for sure. They are just desperate for some Lou Holtz winning times!

UMM we cant forget the lovely fan of the green and gold, maybe Im biased cause I Live here, but for christ sakes the packer backers think they are still gunna have a five hundred season. Domestic violence numbers go up in Green bay following a loss, and that could be a good think to thin out the population.

it's worth noting that the huskers were only 5-3 in the big 12 that year and were totally outclassed by the conference's best teams. add to that that they went 7-7 overall the previous year. add to that solich's poor recruiting classes during those years (partly evidenced by how crappy nebraska was last year [and'll probably be for the next couple]). fact is, nebraska was losing out on top recruits--especially on offense--cuz their system was so different from the pro game that none of the best players saw it as a springboard to the NFL. i liked solich, but he refused to change that system or couldn't implement it or whatever. seems to me like a pretty good reason to fire him.

fabulous assessment of the nebraska situation and i can't argue too much with it. and you are right they were only 5-3 that year in the big 12. however, in college football, 10 games is not an easy accomplishment. thus considering their poor year in the conference and poor recruiting...if you win 10 games its a fine accomplishment. however, i'm not arguing for nebraska or against nebraska's decision. i was just using said incident as a reason to call their fans the worst and they are pretty crazy about their football.

i'll give you, cus, that packers fans are really difficult to be around. they seem to care about nothing else besides the packers. thus the joke our cab driver in milwaukee told us: Q- why do wisconsinites have sex doggie style? A- so they can both watch the game.
as for nebraska, the *only* thing i ever liked about them was that they ran the option. sad to see the majors having to forsake it altogether.

Off topic... but Woo lost a bet here at work with one of the big wigs on the Notre Dame v. Michigan game, and had to wear a Notre Dame t-shirt every day last week.. heheh. Even funnier, he had to go out and buy a shirt for a team he hates. :)
