so, how's everyone's lives treating them?

we've got a lot of snow on the ground here in chicago (foot maybe?) but at least it's not as bitterly cold as it has been. just kind of messy if you're driving.

work has been INSANE. can't really go into all the details yet, but the next few months of my life are going to get turned upside down. maybe when everything settles down, i'll have more time to waste on B2P!

what's up with all of you? when are you moving, 007 and soulqueen?

I'm bored. Work, home, work, home...no good video games out there that I know of right now. Can't wait for spring so at least I can walk around to entertain myself again. My major life highlights are CSI reruns (I just discovered CSI in the past month or so - I know I'm a little behind the times) and Grey's Anatomy. I haven't been much into TV in the most of my 20's, but boredom helps to gravitate to it.

There is my thrilling update! Hopefully others will have more exciting things to say. :p

Goin' great down here. Weather has been grand.:sunny:

Enjoy all that snow. I guess its been a pretty bad winter. Heh-heh.

Move is coming up shortly. Lookin' at being on the West Coast in about 5 weeks. Oh yeah! We'll be representin' with Y Tu on the other side. Can't wait to get some visitors in the SFBA. I've already got 3-4 road trips planned out there [Redwood National Forest, Yosemite, Napa/Sonoma Valley, etc]. Not to mention all the great stuff to see in the Bay Area itself. Excitement is building.

I'll be excited when my boxes are in the new place. :D

It shouldn't be a bad move. I'm finishing up a big project at my job in Miami. Which is why the move is a little later than planned. Its been crazy at work also. (though probably not as crazy as others).

Pretty mellow otherwise. Great sunny days. Winter here is the perfect weather. Looks like everyone is missing out. I was just sitting outside in the gazebo soaking up some sun for lunch. Enjoying the palm trees, the ducks and the turtles.

i brought in this month down in sunny tucson, az. didn't get to see much of the daytime since i was working my ass off, but swimming outside at night was a treat. i was there in my gemstone selling capacity for the gem and mineral show that blows up tucson once a year. it was long days and hard work, but i got some shopping in the day we left while enjoying weather in the 70's.
now i am getting ready to do two more shows in the slush and sleet and cold of the northeast. tomorrow we drive out to philly for the buyer's market show, and then on down to baltimore for the american craft council show. whoo-hoo more fun at convention centers! but after we get back in a week, show season will be over for a couple of months. then i can get back into my studio and get some work done. at least the cold is good for being productive indoors.

Life is pretty good, if cold. My wife is preparing for lots of theatre work. She has several shows lined up, including one that she is planning to create and direct in June. Lots on the horizon, but kinda frozen right now.

Work is good. Tai Chi is even better. Lots of thinking and wondering and learning.

The apartment is officially mine on March 21. Depending on the drive...April 3rd? 1st?

It depends on my final project.

I'm holed up in work projects, but it's freelance theatre work--and therefore schedules aren't so rigid and predictable as 9 to 5. i have the middles of days off right now.

I just closed a show for which I was set and props designer, I have 3 more days of performances in the puppet show I am in , I begin touring Oregon schools as a stage manager with possibly the gayest electrical saftey show ever next week, and at night I am rehearsing a hip-hop influenced version of The Red Badge of Courage, also as a Stage Manager. Somewhere in the middle I go home to visit my family in Missouri and then to check out hot springs in Oregon.

the weather is occasionally drizzly and in the 50s. Having a pretty good time, but don't see my non-theatre friends as often as I might like.

mmmm. coffee.

Life's good!
My job is much more interesting and fulfilling than I thought it would be. I'm playing a show Saturday before 2 of my bandmates leave for at least a year to teach English in China. My man is in the band with me, which is awesome (being in a band with your sig. other can be a fucking nightmare, but not with this guy). I love my man. I need to buy a new car because I'm putting 70 miles a day on a car that already has over 190,000 miles on it.:( I want a Honda Accord hybrid, but can only afford a Honda Civic non-hybrid. I have to make a silver lame' dress tonight to wear to the show tomorrow because we need spacey costumes. I'm still poor! How did that happen? But I reiterate, life is good.

It's fucking cold! 0 degrees F this am. It's going to snow 1-3 more inches tonight.

I'm tired of the 50 degree weather in Atlanta, I need a dose of snow and freezing weather. I'll be in town on Wednesday and will be around for a few days.

Good so i hope this means i can through parties in your crib that last week of March til you get here ;)

Anyway our lives are good for the most part. Laura is crazy busy working 7 days a week 12-16hrs a day but she only has 1 more year before she starts her thesis so that is good:banana: I am working steady trying to get this manufacturing/distribution company for biodegradable cleaners off the ground...we hope to do 2million this year which would be GREAT! So needless to say that keeps me busy.

Besides that however Gaming is a staple in my life. If anyone plays Quake4 Im LunchMeat (name given to be by bighead) Each weekend i try and get out in nature and do some hiking around beautiful northern cali. Cant wait till 007 and SQ are out here. It will be nice to do these excursions with people i know really appreciate nature on the level that i do.

The salt water tank is doing so so. My passion for reef aquariums has grown to an obsession and most of my day to day joy comes from this 38 gallon reef aquarium where i am propagating corals and attempting to mate 2 gold banded maroon clown fish. They have this really great big anemone that they spend most of their time in. I have had the female for a few years now and in the past 2 weeks i added a baby male. There was about a 50% chance that she would kill him when i added him to the tank but she didn’t'
and they are good friends :DShe is starting to go through the motions (finding a place to lay eggs, moving rocks, doin the "Im going to go into heat sometime" dance) so I think she knows he is male and that she will finally be able to attempt a family. I must say my life has changed in more ways than one building and maintaining a complete eco system in my living room. Water conditions lately have not been good and so i have been stressing about it but i should get things under control this week.

And now for the dating life:

I want to date DUDE really bad, but all he wants to do is fuck.
I brushed off HOMEBOY because I wanted to date DUDE, before they both decided we should just be friends. (Except for the fucking.)
JUNIOR calls constantly, but I can't stand him.
And CAPTAIN POOPYPANTS and I are doing it secretly on the side.

Things are kind of crazy here. Poof and I moving across the country in less than six months, and finding another teaching gig is proving to be more stressful than I imagined it would be. I'm going to San Diego (the city where we're moving) in about two weeks for a job fair, and I've got lots of preparation to do before then. I'm also going back and forth about the idea of selling my current place and buying another one is San Diego versus renting out this place and renting some apartment in San Diego for our first year there, as well as any combination of the aforementioned options. On top of these things, I have my day-to-day teaching responsibilities, which include hours of grading, planning, and putting up with the problems that my students so kindly bring into my life. Sometimes when I get too stressed out, it paralyzes me from doing anything at all. So, I've been neglecting the pile of grading which has been staring me down ever since we got home from New York today...

Not sure if we are taking the Northern route. Probably take I-10 across the South.
1) Its a somewhat quicker trek.
2) Wouldn't want to get caught in a Rockies snow-storm.

Love to stop by & visit with you guys, though. Maybe we'll catch you this summer on the bi-annual MO trip.

Lori- You have plenty of time. There's a bunch of stuff you can't even do until about a month before. Enjoy the time you have with your Baltimore friends.

Poof's right. It will all work out.

Thanks for the encouraging words. It's just that there's this job fair in March which I'm planning to attend, and a great deal has to be done before then. I'm trying to get into the 'good' school system, which is obviously more competitive, and so I want to put in an application to a couple specific systems, but this includes compiling all sorts of paperwork and crossing my fingers that they will be lenient about the fact that my California Teaching Credential is being processed. So I was also trying to set up interviews for March 9th by way of being pushy and proactive, but it might already be too late for that.

Also, I have to clean up my teacher's portfolio so that I can look as fancy as possible at the job fair, just in case it doesn't work out with the 'good' school system. This way, hopefully someone in San Diego will hire me, and not a school where students call their teachers 'gringo' and throw chairs at them. The annoying thing is that I have lots of stuff going for me as far as my career is concerned, but because I have Maryland and not California documentation and also because it seems to be a bit more competitive out there, I might actually have difficulty getting a job.

I hope Poof and I win the mega millions today, and we can just open up an ice cream shop :)

Think positive. It sounds to me like your a really good teacher. Even if you don't land your dream job the first year there's always another year.

There are always other avenues than teaching that would use your teaching creditials.

have to run to meeting. see ya later.
