Going to Mexico!!!!!!!!
I just booked my tickets for Ixtapa for the first week of April!
Adios cold weather! Hello warm sandy beaches!

You're a bitch. :grumble:
Ok j/k...sort of. :p No, but seriously, have fun - soak up enough sun to distribute it to those of us trapped in crappy coldness. Although today it's actually warm, but I certainly can't enjoy that from the confines of my cube. I keep going out for smoke breaks and I don't even smoke anymore!

Where are you staying in Ixtapa?
Katie and I were there in October for our Honeymoon. It was nice and hot.

We're staying at Las Brisas Ixtapa (http://www.brisas.com.mx/index.php?method=hotel&idhotel=3)! A friend of our stayed there and loved it, and it got the most "gold apples" and postive reviews on applevactaions.com :) I also like how it is built up like some funky Aztec pyramid or something into the mountain, so every room is ocean view.

We ended up picking this place after much debate, but it is away from all the touristy stuff and more secluded, which seemed more our pace. It's right between Ixtapa (where all the resorts and commercial stuff is) and Zihuatanejo (said to be a "classic Mexican village... unpretentious and serene", heheh). I can't wait!!!!!!!
I also heard a certain sandwich is going to Mexico this week too... one day we'll have to coordinate these things

We're staying at Las Brisas Ixtapa (http://www.brisas.com.mx/index.php?method=hotel&idhotel=3)!
You will love it! We had a great time here. It sounds really stupid to say it, but the place is so good you won't even need to leave.
Seriously, the restaurants in the hotel serve some of the best food in town, and the sunset lobby bar and private beach are beautiful. Keep an eye out for sea turtles!
We got a deal where we got a free breakfast buffet (fresh shredded coconut...mmmm) and happy hour every day there. It was sooooo worth it.
The staff at the hotel are great folks too.
As far as stuff in the area goes, we enjoyed snorkelling at Playa las Gatas. You can catch a boat in Zihuatenejo. You can take a cab to Zihua, but really the bus is easy, will save you some money and the lobby staff can tell you how to catch it. We also enjoyed eating at a beachside restuarant just outside Zihua
called La Perla. You can take the bus there as well, and spend the extra pesos on cerveza or margaritas. Go there when the sun is setting for a beautiful view.
There will be people who will try to get you to do time-share tours for some freebies. Not worth it.
We went to Isla Ixtapa, to snorkel, but the water was rough and it had just rained, so it wasn't so great.
I'm excited for your trip, guys. Enjoy!
