Fuck! This is really horrible.

The game tonight has been cancelled.

He had such a good career turnaround last year. The Reds cut him in spring training because they said he reported 15 lbs overweight (i.e., they didn't want to honor the rest of his contract because they thought he wasn't worth his salary anymore), so the Cardinals picked him up. He proceeded to pitch his best career year yet. He was pretty useful out of the bullpen, and in all the interviews I ever saw with him, he seemed like a funny, personable, smart-ass kind of guy.

I'm pretty sad about it. He just turned 29 a couple weeks ago.

Nobody has said anything yet. The Cardinals didn't even know it happened until 9 am or so. The St. Louis Police Dept. and the Cardinals organization are going to issue a statement to the media at 3 pm, so if they feel like telling us any details, we'll find out then.
