Hey Everybody,

My girlfriend has chosen the next night of gluttony, and I've agreed to post it for her, since she is mildly internet phobic, and doesn't want to be seen on the same message board as you dweebs.

And, the pick is....

Dharma Garden
3109 West Irving Park Road
Chicago, Illinois
google map... (http://www.google.com/maps?q=3109+W+Irving+Park+Rd,+Chicago,+IL+60618,+U SA&sa=X&oi=map&ct=title)

The Tuesday after next, June 5th, at 7:30pm.

Dharma Garden features a wide variety of Thai vegetarian and seafood dishes. Vegetarians can pick from their choice of fake duck, chicken, or beef. A unique style of Thai cooking, I can personally say that I've had man good meals there, and that it is truly worthy of a gluttony.

This is a BYOB establishment, so bring it!

Dammit, I have a birthday to attend that night at a Tiki bar. I don't like missing two NoGs in a row, but it's gonna have to happen.

so, does fake meat really taste like real meat? don't lie, vegetarians! i've never had it before but would be willing to try it. i've had tofu before - and it was the single worst thing i've ever tasted in my life.

Hey All,

Of course this is still on for tonight! Post if you're planning to come, so we can tell them how many when we get there.

Fake meat is somewhat like tofu, but if you didn't like tofu, maybe you had it cooked bad. There's also lots of seafood dishes, if you prefer that to fake meat.

OK, see you guys there.

That's what tofu-lovers say when meat-eaters call them out. "You just didn't have it cooked right." I don't care how you cook it--tofu will never taste like a steak. I encountered this problem in the South with Grits. You can have grits with butter, honey, syrup, salt, brown sugar, eggs, ketchup, whatever, but it always sucked. and everywhere I went, the waitress would say in an overdone southern drawl, "You just haven't had it done right yet!" Yeah. Or maybe it just sucks.

Now that you've moved to Chicago, I don't have a reason to go to that trashy craphole anymore. *sniff sniff*

Easy on the grits now, tofu and grits shouldn't be muttered in the same sentence.

Best quote ever...
"The Charleston News and Courier proclaimed in 1952: 'An inexpensive, simple, and thoroughly digestible food, [grits] should be made popular throughout the world. Given enough of it, the inhabitants of planet Earth would have nothing to fight about. A man full of [grits] is a man of peace.'"[2] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grits#_note-1)

 That is SO true! I eat almost everything and I have never enjoyed grits...they are one of those foods that just tastes like a watery version of whatever you put in them, whether it be butter, syrup, etc. Not having it cooked right is a lame-ass excuse for it tasting like wet air with toppings.

i like tofu and grits. and steak. although i do remember drunkenly puzzling out how exactly to eat grits with sandwich and meatball (the B2P members, not the foods) once at cracker barrel. i think we ended up pouring lemonade on them.

lemonade, bitch!

ahem. cuscus, don't you drown em in pepper or something? i liked that as well. unless i've never done it. i think i just like the texture of grits. i'm a texture guy. end of post.

I can see cheese ones being good, but that is because I love cheese. I guess grits are comparible to pasta since that also kind of tastes like nothing but whatever you put on it. If I like macaroni & cheese I suppose I would like grits & cheese.

this place was pretty good. the old lady running the joint was pretty pushy, but not too bad.

the food was good and the tofu was MUCH better than the first time i had it. this time it tasted like french toast sticks.

in fact, all the food was fantastic until i had the weird desert. it kinda looked like this:
