so i'm no internet routing guru, but this sucks. two big-time internet providers, level 3 and cogent, have gotten into some kind of tussel, and as a result level 3 dropped their connection to cogent yesterday.
so now, two big chunks of the internet can't talk to each other anymore. if your internet is through level 3, you can no longer access sites on cogent, and vice versa. here at work, one of our branch offices has been totally disconnected from us. i can't access slashdot or wikipedia at work today.
this is too much. fucking corporate greed has led to this, and each company is basically betting that the other company's customers will bitch louder and longer and force them to give. millions of people's ability to use the internet has been severely impaired simply for leverage in a business deal.
thank god for private industry. i mean, can you imagine the fall out if power companies did this?
