You've all seen that Video Professor guy on late night infomercials selling his informational CD's, right? Well, it's actually a pretty clever scam. Big surprise. :)
The scam:
You order one free lesson and they send you 3 discs for $6.95 s&h. But what they don't tell you, is that those 3 discs are actually 3 lessons and you have 10 days from the date the discs were mailed to you by Video Professor, Inc. to try out the lessons. You must call them to obtain "permission" in the form of an RMA number to return the third CD-ROM "on or before the '10 day trial period' ends and you won't be charged." "Charged for what?", you ask (it's free, right?)... nope, they charge you $79.95 after 10 days from the mailing date unless you return the third CD-ROM to them... they just never tell you about that part. :) Oh yeah, and then they start sending you an exciting new lesson every five weeks for $79.95.

Also, apparently AOL support is now in on it too... they are now upselling Video Professor lessons to customers that call in for tech support - as part of their "support routine". Anyways, I always like learning how a scam works... and this guy is on TV all the time now. heheh
