I love how you've made the super bowl pick this year, accident proof by separating the divisions into category A and B. :pokefun:

Though it will take away part of the fun of ridiculing the non-fans :)

I guess Notorious has no interest in defending his crown!

(actually I suppose that guess is as good as any)

so the current NFC favorite among B2P's experts is the cardinals. gamblers around the world scratch their heads.

i'm'a wait till after my fantasy draft this weekend to make my prediction. the FA camp is in lockdown. chimpo's, cuscus's, hotfoot's, and sandwich's agents are everywhere trying to unearth a clue as to what i'm gonna do this saturday, and a premature prediction here might give them just what they're looking for!

last year was a guess for me and then i joked about the brewers winning the series this year (while that hasn't happened, who would of thought they'd have done this well). so i'm keeping with just making random guesses. though last year i picked the bears because i'm a fan. so i picked another team i liked which would be the browns so, we'll see. if i'm right again, i'm goiing to vegas and putting every cent i have on whatever number comes to mind.

let me dip my toes in the water with a little bit about who i'm not gonna pick.

i have my mind at 90% sure but i'm not gonna rush.

the governor's cup is coming up thursday and i may wait until after the last preseason game for both of my teams before i go on record.
but, here's who i'm not picking.

new england: if you take the sure thing and yer right..... yawn. who cares if the favorite wins. that's boring shit. i hope ANYBODY but new fucking england wins!

san diego: why wont you switch back to the powder blues?! san diego will never win the super bowl until they change back to the single greatest uniform in the history of sports! that's just my opinion and also they lost donnie edwards , who's inportance cannot be over stated. let me repeat that so you know how important it is.
THE LOSS OF DONNIE EDWARDS IS HUGE!!!!!

NEW ORLEANS: oops caps lock still on.... cant stop the run. and i dont mean all of thier runstoppers are hurt and can come back like indy did.
its the aint's. are you kidding me?!?

stopping here so the board doesn't log me out. i've lost several long posts that way!!

duckplucker
08-27-2007, 08:27 PM
indy: super bowl teams often take a few steps backwrd as some me-first individuals leave for big paydays. indy lost at least 2 KEY defenders to free agency and 1 to injury. you look up their names... i don't give a shit about no indy players!!!:groucho:

chicago: all your eggs in the rex grossman basket again? huh?!?
a good team but they knew they had a weakness at QB. now that nfl defenses have seen the rex show they will be able to stop it. and i mean stop the bear offense in its tracks. why they let go of a proven tailback (thomas jones) for an unproven over-paid youngster that spent most of last year hurt? same reason they didn't upgrade at QB...... bad management.
too bad... cuz brian urlacher is a first ballot hall of famer.

philly: why wont you run the ball. the only time this pass-wacky team made the super bowl was when T.O. was catching balls on a broken leg. now who are thier recevers? i cant think of one. maybe you can.

denver: i just fucking hate em thats why!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

seattle: somehow the peacocks snuck into a super bowl. but will it ever happen again? i'm not betting on it.

hotfoot

Didn't you pick Carolina (the team picked by SI to win) and Indi last year?

Statistically they were both favorites for their conferences.

BTW Bub you picked Indi (the favorite) last year also! I am not picking who I want to be in the superbowl. I am picking who I think will be in the superbowl.

I know what you are talking about though, last year I went out on a limb and neither of my teams made the playoffs. From now on, I am going to try to take all of my emotions out of it when picking winners.

nfc is a puzzle.

if they weren't the saints, the saints would be the clear team to pick.
but can i pick the saints?
at week 15 will i be feeling like a dumbass for picking the saints?

according to the rosters, the saints should win the nfc.

i also like the looks of the rams.
big offense, good turnover ratio, easy schedule.
the d has to get better. run d.
bulger is good but unproven in the playoffs.

i may have given up on carolina.

this is , i believe a brief history of the preseason super bowl pix game/contest.

2002 jvo and i sitting around our apt. i predict the rams will win the super bowl again. jvo makes his pick and the list is born. 007 got in early but many others followed. st. louis lost to the p-men one game after the tuck rule handed the afc title to the pats.
that was super bowl XXXVI

2003 i pick oakland. they lose super bowl XXXVII to tampa, who NOBODY picked

2004 i sucked. ravens beat the g-men. i couldn't pick either side.

2005 XXXIX i pick philly they lose.

2006 XL i pick the steelers and they win.

2007 XLI i pick the colts to lose but they win.

since i have been doing it i have picked the colts and they won "last year"
i picked the loser in 2005 but i cant member who that was at the moment

im hoping to strike gold with ST LOU this year but pittsburg is more likely to get in there and win out

Ima with JVO. I like the "News" this year. Saints and the Pats.

I also love the Pats, but I truly believe the Ravens are going to D up on them in the playoffs. Also, Baltimore's offense is only going to get better now with a real running back to take the load off of an aging McNair. With the improved Offense, the Defense will dominate when that team gets a lead.

I'm not picking the Ravens because I used to live in Baltimore. I actually hate that team. I just think they are damned good.

san diego chargers vs san francisco 49ers.

y'alls seem to be sleepin on a chargers team that was dominant most of last year. norv runs basically the same offense and they didn't lose any personnel of note (except a coach who supposedly can't win in the postseason). can't wait to see them stick it to the vile pats.

49ers...to be honest the NFC just looks real bad to me. i don't think the saints have enough D, and i don't think the bears' offensive line'll hold up as well. philly should be better but they'll probably leave peeps scratchin heads again. seattle's aging and might have another year left but SB-caliber? naw. STL has too many ex-dolphins to go deep into the postseason. i like carolina, but too many questions at QB.

all of which leaves SF. smith should be coming into his own, they have one of the best RBs in the game, darrell jackson is always underrated and should be a huge help to smith, and they added a number of guys on D that might make it good enough for em to surprise. ascensions in the NFL are rarely gradual these days (see: saints, 2006), and i expect the NFC rep to be a team who comes quick--and gets utterly stomped by the AFC again.

JVO
08-30-2007, 07:42 PM
I definitely did consider the Chargers long and hard (I think I actually picked them last year). The only thing that is standing in my way is Norv. Not only is Norv a born loser as a head coach, but I also think it is very difficult for an outside head coach to be brought into an organzation and have them go to the SuperBowl in the first year (I know Gruden did it with Tampa and possibly the Sooner ahole with the Cowpokes, but I think that is more the exception than the rule). Also, as a life long Bronco's fan, I have seen San Diego choke more times than I can remember. Of course this was true with Seattle and they finally were able to break through (and also probably true with New Orleans who I did pick), so I suppose anything can happen.

For the NFC, I basically agree with everybody. It could be San Fran, St louis, Chicago, Dallas, Philly, Seattle, New Orleans, Carolina, and probably a host of other teams.

oh yeah you a broncos guy!

normally i'd agree with you about the coach thing. i decided to go with them anyway in this case cuz norv's been there fairly recently, so he knows some peeps (including one mr. LT), and they ain't really implementing a new system. oh and no one else had picked them yet, so shit.

Allright, well I know last year I was dreadfully wrong with my picks, however this is my year. I will give you the winning picks after my ffl draft this weekend.

I DO guarantee you this:
NEITHER ARIZONA nor SF has a chance.

That's right mark it down. I'd put money on it. Both teams have way too much wrong with them. ARIZONA has a great O but no D. SF has neither. In that regards you should pick Tennessee...

Sorry to point it out, but those picks are faulty. You can change ur picks up to first kickoff if you want... I would suggest it.

Okay, so we know who is good in the NFL, including some surprise teams. However, who knew that SD and Chi would be so terrible? These teams have shown nothing on the field.

My probably unpopular question is 'how important was marty to SD??' They were the best team in the regular season in '06, with the same team in '07 (minus the head coach) they are nowhere near the same team as last year.

Wish I woulda put some thought into it before picking SD for preseason super bowl pick.... ; )

duckplucker

the loss of marty was a bone head move.

not the firing of marty (who will never win the big one due to conservative play calling) but the fact that they replaced him with someone even worse.

but the biggest part of the bolts spiral downward into the crapper......

Well nobody wins this year. Quite a few people picked New England, but the NY Giants (and the Green Bay Packers for that matter) were not mentioned a single time in the entire thread.
