It's true. I can't lie. Me, Talking Sandwich, Meatball, and Hans Brix, plus one non-BTPer, are going to Amsterdam from Dec. 27 to Jan. 5.

At this point it's looking like I won't be going... I've already commited to spending the holidays with all my relatives in (god help me) Florida for the week prior, and I don't know if I can swing the extra vacation time. Will let you know if that changes. Sounds like a great trip for sure.


Also, I'm definately still interested in planning a big Europe trip for next summer when it's warm and -not- around the holidays. :)

My grandparents have a winter home in Bradenton, FL. (I think that's the place), and they somehow convinced all my relatives to fly to FL. for the holidays and have rented out some hotel/resort thing somewhere. Dunno... but if it's near Miami I'll have to pay you and SQ a visit. :D

P.P.S. Take a day to not JUST smoke and to do the "normal" tourist stuff. I wish I had. But I still had a blast!

i would suggest the rijksmuseum, simply to see 'nightwatch'. that's one painting that no reproduction could ever capture, as it's simply a masterpiece. the rest of the musuem kind of sucks, though. don't waste too much time there. the van gogh museum is highly recommended as well.

when we were there, we tried to take a trip to edam to see the factory where edam cheese was made. that was a real bust. we kept asking people where the cheese factory was, but no one seemed to know. so then, at 5, we knew the place must be closing, so we headed back to amsterdam, and ended up driving by the cheese factory on the way back! damn!

the red light district kind of creeped me out (16 year old girls who don't entirely look like they're happy with their professions), but we visited anyways.

just don't get lost! all the damn streets curve ever so slightly, so you think you're going straight, but then end up bass ackwards. and they're all named like rhsafhadsfhdstraat. there could be other factors that led to us getting lost all the time, too...
