i thought this show got canned? some of the kids apparently drank bleach, and another girl got pretty badly burned trying to cook something.

not a super bright idea.

Zero and I have been discussing this show since we first heard about it. I actually think it is a great idea for a show. Besides, as long as nobody gets killed or seriously hurt (which didn't happen), I think those kids will learn some excellent life lessons. If I were a parent and I had a child who I thought could handle it, and would enjoy this experience, I would totally let them do it. I suspect that almost all of the children will find that they are more intellegent, have a better work ethic, and are more mature after this experience than their classmates. I think children, especially children of privledge, grow up with an idealistic concept of the world that I find to be quite annoying. If nothing else, this experience will definitely show the kids what the world is really like.

Did anyone watch this? My DVR screwed up (I didn't prioritize a couple series correctly) and I missed the first episode.

No interest in watching this really, I'll re-read Lord of the Flies or watch Battle Royale instead.

Did anybody watch this last night? I thought it was very good. There were a couple of things that made me rest a little easier about the experiment. For example every day or two they have a meeting and in these meetings, the first thing that they do is allow anybody who wants to leave to go without any questions or pressuring. I was also impressed with the way they edited the show. I don't think they are going to show things that will overly embarass the kids, or get their asses kicked when they return to civilization. Seems like they are really working to make this a positive experience for everyone involved.

It is nice to see a reality show where the participants aren't changing their behavior because they are on tv. With these kids you can already tell that they are acting exactly like they would be if there were no cameras involved. True, we know that throughout the season there were some kids that got hurt, but I don't think that is a big deal. Nearly anything of value requires some type of sacrifice be it mentally, physically or emotionally. I would bet if you were to ask the kids who got hurt if they regret the experience, they would say no way. It is like parents who won't let their kids play football or take karate because they might get hurt. Well they probably will get hurt at some point, but the lessons that they learn from the experience will be well worth most injuries that come along.

Of course I have only seen one episode so far, so if they have a pit fight episode next week I may be changing my tune.

Did anybody watch this last night? ...... Seems like they are really working to make this a positive experience for everyone involved.

I saw it and liked it. That 8 year old kid broke my heart, saying "I just don't think I'm old enough to be here" and "I miss my mom and dad".....awww shucks. Heart-warming.

Blue team are jerks.

Also, I thought that one kids who kept giving awesome speeches should have won the gold star. They might have all killed each other without his leadership.

I agree on the kid giving the speeches. Give him time, he'll be running that town in no time.
