Soul Queen

Last Saturday 007 and I went to the Treasure Island Music Festival. It was the best organized event that I have ever been too. It was held on an island that sits in the middle of the bay. From the island is a great view of the city.
Concert goers were not allowed to park on the island. Event planners scheduled buses to and from the show. I was skeptical about how efficient this would be. We only had to wait a half an hour to get off the island after the end of the show.
Great things about the organization was it a green show. Most of the items were recyclable. People were awarded prizes for recycling their trash. Some positive reinforcement there. Prizes were cds, signed posters...
But really the real review is the music. Here was the line-up:
Snocap
Dengue Fever
Mocean Worker
Zion I
Honeycut
Ghostland Observatory
Kid Beyond
M.I.A.
West Indian Girl
DJ Shadow & Cut Chemist
Flosstradamus
Gotan Project
Kinky
Thievery Corporation
I arrived to late to see snowcap. So no review here.
Highlights for me:
Mocean Worker
Honeycut-Excellant

West Indian Girl: Good local band. I need to check them out a bit more.

Dj Shadow and Cut Chemist: There are no words. They mixed everything you can possibly think of. The Doors, Hendrix, Tribe, some old blues...
I'm a big fan of Dj Shadow. It was a great show. I've never head so much mixing of such a wide variety of music.

Gotan Project-These guys stole the show. They had a full band on stage. This included 3 violinist, 1 cello player, a piano player, an acordian player, the lead singer and guitar player, plus the 2 djs spinning parts of the music in the back. They were very classey. It was interesting to hear live Tango music remixed. It was by far the best out of all the performers. If you get the chance, don't miss this show!

Thievery Corporation-I'm a big fan. They also had a million people on stage. This includes a full band that includes 3 different types of percussion, Dj's, guitar players. They had many people perform with them. I'm more into the electronic Thievery than the Hip Hop. It was a great show.
