So I'm going to visit Diamond Vision in NYC. Halloween in NYC! I'm terribly excited.

I was wondering if anybody has any suggestions on random, fun stuff to do.

Obviously on my list:

Lady Liberty
Times Square
Central Park (which, incidentally, borders the Fantastic Four's Baxter Building on one side and the Avengers' Mansion on the other side.)
Ground Zero
Guggenheim

We'll see how much of this actually gets done. More likely, Diamond and I will spend all night and all day drinking until we pass out. Hopefully, we can wander out of our drunken stupors long enough to see some shit.

Matty, go to Greenwich Village at night. Especially on Halloween, it's full of drag queens and other overly decorated folks. It's a feast for the eyes!!! It's also got lots of kitschy shops and restaurants: one of my fav areas in Manhattan.

I never went to the Guggenheim, but the MoMA is awesome if you like modern art.

Okay, that's all I have for now. Have fun, NYC is amazing :)

whoo hoo! finally someone coming out to nyc! we will definitely have to get together - and maybe at some point i can drag you into brooklyn to see what all the fuss is about.

i kinda bet you will get everything on your list done, its not that long for a week in new york. maybe lady liberty will be the hardest, as you have to take the ferry out to her, and keep a schedule and all. she is worth it though. but know that if you do go, you will be seriously searched. they even make you walk though a bomb detector that beeps and shoots air up at you. weird.

you have to go to the met museum. the armor section is awesome. it spans the ages, as well as cultures. plus there is the largest body armor i have ever seen. i think it is german. just the thought of that hulk moving towards you with the intent to kill makes my blood chill.

also, it is right on the park, so you could get two events checked off your list at the same time. and its pay what you will so its a cheap thing to do.

also, i think the museum of natural history (which is one of my favorite places - i like to hang out with the meteors and minerals) always is worth visiting. it isn't cheap though. but i think they have a show up right now about mythical creatures. it may or may not be worth it. it seems their special shows are usually geared for children and don't do a great job of expanding on their subjects.

i really liked the empire state building. it's a long wait, and super touristy, but the view from the top is astounding. ag au and i went at night, and the lights were just insane! that city goes on forever! however, be careful if it's cold. it's all open at top, and windy.

go visit the hellfire club for me, tell emma hi.

I'll ask the girl to check this thread out, she used to live there and is privy to all the hot spots :)

I've never been to NY before!

Emma and I aren't on speaking terms at the moment. There was an incident.

I saw online somewhere about a thousand years ago that you can take a superhero tour of NYC, where you visit things like the sites where the Baxter Building, Avengers Mansion, Hell's Kitchen where Daredevil lives, the spot on the bridge where Gwen Stacy died, Doctor Strange's Sanctum Sanctorum, etc. I need to look that up again...

nyc:

get the hell on myspacebookster and find someone who works at marvel. then, convince them to give you a tour. it's crawling with gay men... and comic book stuff. you'd dig it.

empire state is really nice if you can time it at dusk and watch all the lights come on.

metropolitan bar was my local gay bar. it's in williamsburg on lorimer and metropolitan. for manhattan, the phoenix and nowhere were also fun. you can also go to monster in the west village and watch old queens sing tunes on the piano.

i second ag au on the met. it's as cheap as a penny, and so are you. central park is a must

there's remnants of an old World's Fair in flushing, queens.

i also like the staten island ferry. just a boat ride, but a nice view.

there's a full on halloween parade in the west village--down 6th ave, i think. it'll be hella crowded, but fun. and the west village on halloweens is crazy. crazy muscle drag queens in wig, full makeup and a tasteful thong. and more.

WANT.

Perhaps one of the most popular and recognizable "characters" in Marvel Comics is New York City itself. When comics legend Stan Lee decided that Marvel Super Heroes like Spider-Man and the Fantastic Four would work and play on the real-life streets of New York, he made it thrillingly easy for readers to imagine their favorite crimefighters just around the corner. Now, armed with this action-packed guidebook, Marvel fans can take a fun-filled tour of the Big Apple, visiting some of the most famous and obscure locations from Marvel's long, rich history

But it doesn't come out until November 20.

I'm back! I took a shitload of pictures.

http://picasaweb.google.com/baronbodybags

Some of them are in Halloween 07, some of them are in NYC. I haven't had time to go back through them and straighten them, etc., so give me some time. Also, there are a bunch more pics on Diamond's computer, and a bunch more on my computer, but they're not online yet. They're coming!

(There are also more friend pics in Friends Too.)

NY was unbelievably fun. I had an amazing time, and I can't wait to go back.

That bull is in the Financial District. It's balls are rubbed raw from people having their picture taken while rubbing them. I figured, who am I to refuse?

I love looking through your picts. I miss you guys!
Where did you go for Halloween?

We went to the NYC Halloween Parade! It was great--I saw some crazy stuff. Then we went to some guy's party--he's the guy with the shaved head, feather collar, and corset. (His name was Brett.) That was a fun party--we got trashed. Then we went to some bar called Sugarland, where we continued to get trashed thanks to the cabaret-clad shot boy. Then we drunkenly made our way into a cab.

I spent four days drunk and smoked up and running around the streets. It was great! Diamond said he'll try to get the rest of my pictures up this afternoon sometime. I have a bunch of great stuff from the Metropolitan Art Museum and the Museum of Natural History, and my pics from the top of Rockefeller Center are amazing.

you forgot all the trash talk! There was about 4 days of nasty trash talk as well... mentally undressing every moderately cute guy... getting cruised in battery park...
