Just ordered this "Earth Friendly" Power Supply

My old one was shutting off randomly, so I figured this was a good replacement for $80. It also is supposed to save me some cash on my electric bill in the long run and not run as hot.

Probably a good investment. I remember reading that the power supply is the component of most electronics that wastes the most energy. Some cheap ones waste half or more of the electricity they convert. You can tell because that's the part that makes the most heat.

Cool, thanks, I didn't even know they made something like that. I'll have to keep that in mind next time my power supply dies. Seems like a bi-yearly thing with my home server.

i remember hearing years ago about how google was scrapping the idea of a power supply for each server, and just doing their ac/dc conversion in one big, efficient box, and piping dc current to all of the servers in a room. think they shaved some serious money that way.
