Yep,
In the process of trying to quit smoking again. It's been 6 days so far. It's going OK but I think I'm finally coming to grips with the fact that I will just have to get used to having cravings for one for the rest of my life. Lame.

yeah dude, i've found the craving never really goes away. i quit for 2 years when i was in college and i wanted a cigarette almost every single day. it's seriously way better to quit though (it's been about 6 months this time through). i'm able to breathe better, do more strenuous activity (as far as I actually do strenuous activity in the first place, which actually isn't that often), and food tastes FANTASTIC now.
congrats and keep it up!
all the bars go non smoking january first, right? that should seriously help ya out there.
good luck, godspeed!

I find that as time goes by I still crave cigs but the craving only last a short while. I wouldn't even have time to act on the craving unless I had a lit cigarette in my hand ready to go at all times.
Also, I suggest simultaneously exercising. When I quit it coincided with me increasing my running. And I felt so fucking good after running that the thought of fucking that up with cigarettes seemed (and still does seem) like the dumbest thing in the world. I feel a hundred times better and healthier because I quit. It's the best thing I've done in a long time.
Whatever you do, you have to approach this as if you'll never have a cigarette in your life ever again. Stop romantacizing them.

I think it's been over a year since I quite and honestly I never have cravings at all anymore - even when I go to a smoky bar, I'm just more annoyed that I have to breath it and having it make my clothes and hair smell like an ashtray. And if you think about it - you're breathing the second-hand smoke that was in some other guy's lungs - ach.
January 1st will be a big help to everyone quitting!

Hotfoot, I'm glad to hear you're still staying strong. You guys can do it, the cravings don't last forever, just get over the first week, and then month, and then year, etc

No, I'm not using gum or patches or anything like that. At this point it's not really a matter of being physically addicted (I think), it's mainly just mental. You start realizing all of the activities you do that trigger you wanting a smoke like getting in the car, walking to the train, after a meal, wanting a work break, etc.
And, hotfoot, yeah I plan on starting to exercise at the gym near my house soon. I need to keep active plus I don't need to put on any more weight (put on a few the last time I quit a couple years ago).

My plan is to quit once the smoking ban starts on Jan 1st. I basically smoke just when I drink these days so I think I'll be able to do it. I also plan to stop watching pro wrestling on Jan 1st but thats a different story.

You should replace your pro wrestling watching with UFC. It's better.
