View Full Version : the family guy goes all to shit
so what's fox to do, now that seth mcfarlane, the genius behind the family guy, is on the writer's strike?
why, keep producing episodes without the guy who writes most of the show and voices most of the main characters. genius!

good to see that fox is still good at shooting itself in the foot.

"It would be a colossal dick move if they did that," MacFarlane told Variety yesterday. He added: "It's going to be unfortunate and damaging to our relationship if they do."
indeed.
I reiterate: Strikes are stupid.

why, chimpo, are strikes stupid?

you made no case at all for why this one is stupid in the other thread, other than that you're annoyed that there won't be new TV for a while. what's so stupid about this one?

Actors and producers get filthy rich off the writers. I think the writers should be the filthiest richest of them all. Strike! Strike!

seriously though. same strike as what? the firemen's strike? what's going on here?
i mean, get irritated with millionaires (as if all writers, even in hollywood, make that much bank) squabbling with billionaires all you want, but is there not an inequity here in the proportion of revenues generated from the writers' work that is going to them?
i ain't read the links just cuz, but the issue's internet rights, ain't it?
if the medium were print, would an analogy be if a publisher (the suits) were profiting off the foreign rights for translation of a writer's books, but the writer wasn't seeing any revenue from those translations and the publishers refused to ever allow writers to retain those rights in a contract? i imagine that analogy's wrong cuz they're totally different businesses but that's roughly the way i understand it from what i've heard.
(by the by, chimpo, i find it humorous that you've repeatedly stated that if you were in a band you'd sell out at the first chance, but then you hate strikes cuz they remind us that all a mufucka cares about's stackin that cheese.)

hehe, yeah. i'm complicated. :p
i'll see if I can find a brief synopsis of the current strike for you if you want. (basically both sides are lying about almost everything).
