admins please put this on top for a bit.

there was a shooting at Northern Illinois University. Reports range from 5-15 shot, and gunman both down and not down depending on what you read.

If you know anybody there, I'd call them to make sure they're all right.

any reports of death?

most news places aren't releasing too much info now.

The shooting was in Cole Hall, which is basically 2 large auditoriums. I had freaking like 15 classes there! :disbelief:

"He just kicked the door open, just started shooting," said McEnery, who was in the class at the time. "All I really heard was just people screaming, yelling 'get out.' ... Close to 30 shots were fired."

that is just fucked up. this is a real tragedy and it's sad that this type of violence has become increasingly common.

my thoughts and prayers to the victim's families.

yeah, apparently this is the fourth school shooting in just the last week. so messed up.

I got quite a few family and friends up there, and thank God all of them have checked in and are alright.

Keep praying (or whatever those that don't pray do...like bake a cake or something) for the people even more closely involved and the victims' families.

It's so strange for this to happen at a place like NIU. It's very quiet and small-town. Some would say "sleepy".
