so it seems now that the consensus is that obama will be the democratic nominee, and hillary will drop out after the last few primaries (to save obama the humiliation of losing states when he's the only one left, and to secure her place in a majority democratic senate). which makes this almost certainly an obama/mccain presidential election.

which i find fantastic. before i devolve into the next few months of hating on mccain simply because he's a republican running against obama, let me just state that: i like mccain. i think he's a good guy. i think he genuinely has the best interests of our country in his heart. i think he understands very well what's wrong with washington politics and will work hard to fix them.

obviously, i disagree with a whole lot of his stances, but i truly believe that an obama / mccain presidential election marks a serious step forwards in civil discource of the issues and overall competency in our presidency.

(this post brought to you by john mccain's recent appearance on the daily show, watchable here: http://www.thedailyshow.com/video/index.jhtml?videoId=167938&title=john-mccain-pt.-1)

Yeah, I saw McCain on TDS, and I thought he was great. I also really like him. There is absolutely no way I'd vote for him over Obama, but he has my respect and admiration.

Same thing me too.

I think a term we are going to be hearing a lot in the months to come is "Bush/McCain" which I think is funny since they aren't really similar, but very smart on the Dems side. Normally the Reps seem to be better at naming things in an obnoxious way, but the Dems did good with Bush/McCain.

I saw Hillary give a couple of interviews last night, and for the first time, she looks exhausted. You can tell her heart just isn't in it anymore.

Like you and McCain, I really have to give it up to Hillary Clinton. She was tough, very smart, very engaging, personable, and yeah very smart. My respect for her really grew in leaps and bounds over this primary season. I can't think of a candidate that has been more knowledgeable on the issues than she is. I hope she doesn't destroy that by continuing to mention Florida and Michigan for the next 6 weeks.

economically, they're cut from the same cloth, and the economy is americans number one concern these days. that's where the similarity is, and that's what's going to kill mccain.

For me the thing that they are same about is the War and America's future in the middle east. That is really the main reason why I won't vote for McCain.

just popping in to break up the mccain love-in. i still don't like him. sure he might be alright to have a laugh with, but i don't like his politics. i would not be happy with his vision leading the country. he isn't very well spoken either. he fared better on the daily show than i would have guessed, but i did half expect him to break into a stutter at any minute.

I thought this was a pretty funny article. Also involves West Wing cast members which is a plus: http://news.yahoo.com/s/bloomberg/20080509/pl_bloomberg/aokvep53z0n0

Economically McCain and Obama are cut from the same cloth? I don't agree with that one.
