View Full Version : st. louis bars that don't suck
so laina's roommate is going to be in st. louis tonight to see mr. tom waits. he was wondering if there were any cool bars to go to, preferably near the fox theater.
as all the time i spent in st. louis was before i was 21, i couldn't think of any off hand. any suggestions? he would probably ideally be looking for a place that isn't too loud, doesn't have any televisions, and is filled with what people might call 'hipsters'.

He would want to be on The Loop, I imagine--retro clothing shops, dingy, cheap little bars full of people of the hip variety.
There's a gay bar called Novak's (not on the Loop) that is pretty cool, but innocent, wholesole little Jamison would be sweet boy-bait in such a place.

I'm totally going to start calling him "boy-bait"

Okay.
Step 1: Get him dating a lot of boys.
Step 2: Once he's nice and broken in, give him my number.
Step 3: Attend our wedding (or "commitment ceremony" if you prefer), which will have a "Wonderland" theme.

you are aware of jamison's obsession with alice in wonderland, correct? or are you psychic?
i gave him the info. hopefully they're not too trashed to find the loop!

Blueberry Hill is a good time on the Loop, aka Delmar.
Trailhead Brewing Company was a favorite of mine, but its in St. Charles.
The Schlafly Brewery and Tap Room in downtown St. Louis is good as well.
Keep in mind that this is being posted by someone who's not even quite sure what "Hipster" means, so the ol' "grain of salt" adage comes to mind.
