Slamden and I just saw Olivia Tremor Control for free on Saturday playing a street festival in Wicker Park.... fucking good show. They're part of the Elephant 6 Collective (the Apples in Stereo, Neutral Milk Hotel, etc.), which are some other good bands you might know.
If you can find it, get their album "Black Foliage" (http://www.allmusic.com/cg/amg.dll?p=amg&sql=10:h75zefwkogf2) ... it's kinda abstract rock, sponsored the letters L, S and D... think "Strawberry Fields" by the Beatles, etc. :)

I am jealous. Sounds like you guys had fun this weekend.
So, is slam all moved in? Can you guys relax and celebrate now?
To stay on topic, I will throw this in:
I finally forked out the $22 for that Dungen album (I thought it was "Dungeon," because that's how it's pronounced by the college radio DJs, but no. DUNGEN.) It takes a few listens, but it's neat. If you're into crazy Swedish psych-rock with keyboards and singing choirs, you might like it. They sound a little bit like Can, except they are singing in Swedish. It's definitely a departure from what I usually listen to, but I have been enjoying it.

Yeah, last weekend was cool. We don't get to move into the new place until Aug. 15 though, so that whole moving nightmare is still ahead of usl. But then, it'll be non-stop wild house parties and stuff... like in all those 80's movies. I'm still trying to decide who are token drunk guy is going to be... every movie always had that one party animal guy who'd crush beers on his head and walk through screen doors and stuff. Too bad Becker doesn't live up here, lol. Maybe we can get Dungen to play too.
