scratch my attendance. my mother just called and guilt-tripped me into going to a family party.

the real live guilt trip conversation:

My mom: "Your cousin's birthday is on saturday. i think it will be good if you were there."

Me: "Yeah, I think I'm going to be somewhere that day."

Mom: "where?"

Me: "well, there is a beer-tasting at this bar in wrigleyville..."

Mom: "you're going to a BAR instead of spending time with your family? you know, it's been a very long time since you've been to a family party, and people are starting to wonder what's going on. i'm telling everyone that you decided to get drunk instead of seeing them."

Me: "yeah, well everyone's probably going to be too drunk to notice at the party anyways."

Mom: "you're coming to this party. you need to participate in this family more."

Me: "sigh...alright. i'll be there."

Ah, nothing like getting drunk with the relatives. My mom has mastered the guilt-trip as well (hence I'm going home this weekend too). :)
