Salman Rushdie is giving a lecture at the University of Miami. Apparently it is about the threat of modern terrorism. I am sortof interesting in going to listen.

I haven't read Satanic Verses, but know that it is a very influential book.

So what do you guys think, is it worth a listen? Its Monday evening?

i saw him on bill marer recently. i haven't read his books, but he's certainly an interesting guy with a lot to say. i bet it would be a pretty interesting talk.

I saw Rushdie give a lecture at UVa and it is definitely worth it. He is absolutely crazy and his opinions are so outside of the practical world that I found myself chuckling quite a bit. When I saw him a couple of students started a huge arguement with him, which made things even better. I bet you will really like him though, he is a crazy radical liberal. He has appeared on "Real Time" (my favorite show on tv) a couple of times and he is very entertaining.

He wrote "The Satanic Verses" in which he calls the Prophet Muhammad a dog... it caused a huge stir in the Muslim world and he had to go into hiding for many years because they issued a fatwa calling for his death.
