So my PS2 can't seem to read my GTA San Andreas game card anymore. WTF???? Do you know how many hours I've spent on that game? I was nearing completion!!!
The PS2 just says that it can't read the game card and then it restarts the game from the beginning.
Has anybody else had this problem? Is my game card full?? Is there anything, absolutely ANYTHING I can do????
HELP!!!!

That is weird.. Can it not read the card at all? Like, have you tried browsing the card through the PS2's little browser application to see if your saved games are still on there? Or maybe try the card in the other card slot or a different PS2. That sucks though.
Also, don't forget the trusty ol' Nintendo cartridge move.. turn over and blow really hard.
Wait that came out wrong..
yeah, if you boot with no disc in, it lets you get into a utility where you can see what's saved on the card.
wasn't there a supposed issue with some of the gta games that if you saved the game after implementing a cheat, it might corrupt things? but i don't think matty used many cheats.
could just be getting old. call sony/rockstar and bitch. i'm ever-so-certain that they'll go out of their ways to help you.

I have never used a cheat on my OWN PS2, as I also heard they corrupt game cards. I think it only does hurt it if you save while using a cheat. But I don't risk it, either way.
Also, I found some article about some of the flat PS2s getting recalled because of loading problems. Let's hope this isn't the case, because the recall date was a long time ago.
I was going to try a bunch of stuff today after work, but I forgot that I have to go home. Stupid home! Stupid parents cooking a delicious roast and forcing me to eat it while they shove some money in my pocket! Why don't they fix my PS2 if they want to be useful? :grumble:
If nothing else, I know a guy at GameCrazy who will toy around with my PS2 for cheap....

The mystery deepens.
My PS2 does recognize the game card in Browser mode, but doesn't seem to have a function where I can see what it thinks about the saved material.
I started a new game, got to the first save point, and saved it under a different slot. The result is, I can load the new game, but not the old game.
wtf?
My theory: The file that the old game is on is compromised, probably by jostling while saving, but other files should be okay. Until they are jostled while saving. (This all seems ridiculous.)
