I'm looking for some good 2 player games for my partner and me to play.
Soul Calibur is pretty fun, but it gets old fast when it's just the 2 of you. anyone have a review of the 2 player options on III?
Also, multiplayer "party games" are lame to begin with and bring lame to a new dimension when only playing with 2 peeps.
Racing games are fun. The only 2p game we really play is Simpsons Road Rage.
I also have one of the star wars games with 2p that seems like it would be pretty fun, but i can't pique his interest.
In my opinion, the greatest 2p game of all time was BattleToads. I loved the coopertive/competitive aspect of it. You played simultaniously but could also beat the shit out of each other. Ideally, that's what i would like to find now.
Another revolutionary 2p game was SMB3. I hated having to wait for p2 to play through a level, though. It could take forever sometimes! The one-on-one challenge for turn and stage-cards was fun, though and that a completed stage was marked by the player who beat it and became an active stage again when that player's lives were extinguished was interesting, too.
What about Sonic? It seems like Sonic & Tails was pretty cool... but I've only played it a few minutes out of my life, having never owned a sega. Has anyone played the new Black Hedgehog? know if it (or any one the new Sonics) is 2p?
Joel is really captiviated by the commercials for the new war games. Are any that you know of 2p in a good way?
Ultimately, I'm looking for a 2p that is goal oriented instead of a measly head-to-head option in a sub-menu that has to be unlocked. Split screen is cool, though one battlefield would be better. Basically, something where the mulitplicity of the game that is fun for 1p is enhanced by 2p instead of hindered..
For me, the sad and frustrating thing is that my video game skills are above and beyond Joel's by so much head-to-head is never very fun because I tend to kick his ass and he doesn't have a good time. He didn't have a v/g system growing up... poor chap.
