so, essentially, every digital device is going to (or already does) have a 'unique id' in the hardware. download a song from itunes? it'll tie itself to the id and not be usable on any other computer. same with any document. no more logging into websites, they'll already know who you are!
with intel, amd, and ibm all on board, there's not much chance of getting a chip in the future that doesn't have this DRM feature.
