oh no! congress says we can't torture people!

the patriot act is going to expire! we'll lose the precious ability to inspect library records that we haven't actually had to use yet.

and, oh crap, it appears the president authorized the NSA to break the law and spy on americans!

i wanna watch bill o'reilly and sean hannity tonight. what do you bet they spend their time discussing the secularization of christmas?

I find it interesting that the same Dems and Reps who voted to repeal the Patriot Act are the same exact people who voted for it in the first place. Why was it ok to violate our civil rights then, but it is not now? What has changed? If there is another terrorist bombing will they institute it again? I must say that as much as I hate Bush, at least I understand him and at least he is consistant. He believed in the Patriot act now and he believed in it then (I never believed in it!!!). All of the Congressional hacks voted for it then and now are dumping it. Why? Because they care more about political polls than the rights of citizens. They don't give a shit about our civil rights (obviously since they voted yeah on it in the first place) they only care about voting the same way as a majority of their constituents. This isn't a victory for civil rights, it is only a reminder that civil rights are of little concern to the smucks on either side of the aisle.
