Chief Executive
01-09-2006, 06:56 PM
From John Quincy Adams' First Inaugural Address, March 4. 1825:

Of the two great political parties which have divided the opinions and feelings of our country, the candid and the just will now admit that both have contributed splendid talents, spotless integrity, ardent patriotism, and disinterested sacrifices to the formation and administration of this Government, and that both have required a liberal indulgence for a portion of human infirmity and error.

From Andrew Jackson's First Inaugural Address, March 4, 1829:

Considering standing armies as dangerous to free governments in time of peace, I shall not seek to enlarge our present establishment, nor disregard that salutary lesson of political
experience which teaches that the military should be held subordinate to the civil power.

From Andrew Jackson's Second Inaugural Address, March 4, 1833:

To this end it becomes the duty of all to yield a ready and patriotic submission to the laws constitutionally enacted, and thereby promote and strengthen a proper confidence in those institutions of the several States and of the United States which the people themselves have ordained for their own government.

i'm pretty certain that the Chief is really George Steinbrenner.

we were out at a bar last week, and he started drunkenly quoting some presidential inaugural speeches. and i started thinking "huh, those sound really familiar from somewhere." and then i kicked his ass, cause he's a fucking dick.

"I think it's time for George's lunch. Yes, it is. Let's see what I got today. Ham and cheese again. And she forgot the fancy mustard. I love that fancy mustard. You could put that fancy mustard on a shoe and it would taste pretty good to me. "

Thanks for the heads up on the spy in our midst thing.

I nearly made some disparaging comments about Martin Van Buren.
